Dr
Manish Rai Sookha did his Bachelor in Medicine and Bachelor in Surgery (MBBS)
from 2000 till 2005 at Sir Seewoosagar Ramgoolam Medical College, University of
Mauritius and his Master in Medicine in Rheumatology from 2009 till 2012 at
Dalian Medical College in People Republic of China.
He
is presently the Consultant Rheumatologist. He works at Dr Bruno Cheong Hospital,
Flacq which is a government regional hospital. He joined the public sector as
preregistration officer in 2005 till 2006 and then as medical health officer as
from 2007. He was then promoted to specialist in Rheumatology in 2013. He was
recently upgraded to the grade of consultant in rheumatology as from 2024.
He
is also working in the private sector namely C Care Mauritius and Artemis Hospital.
He is actively involved in the teaching of medical students, preregistration
house officers and general practitioners. He is an elected member of The
Medical Council of Mauritius in the category of specialist in the public sector
since March 2022.
He
is a member of The Rheumatology Society (of Mauritius). He acts as Continuous
Professional Development (CPD) Speaker for my hospital, rheumatology society
and other CPD providers. He often attends
international conferences like Indian Rheumatology Association Conference
(IRACON). He was also involved actively in the organization of 9th African
League of Associations for Rheumatology (AFLAR) congress held in Mauritius in
2019.
Dr
Manish Rai Sookha is often invited by the media (Radio and television) to inform
the public about the different types of arthritis and connective tissues
diseases, the causes, the risk factors, clinical features, management,
precautions and counselling for the patients
He
also participated in clinical researches. He was a member of the team who
published about elevated serum leptin in patients with systemic lupus
erythematosus in Pharmazie 2015 Nov;70(11):720-3.
