My name is Aisha Erum Hassan, and I am a creative artist from Maldives who loves to express art through photography. I was born in Maldives in 1996. I have been captivated by the beauty of the landscapes that surround me throughout my life, which has made me a professional photographer. Now I am offering my services nationwide.

I attended Ahmadhiyya International School where I did well in all the subjects. I was also a scout’s member there and continue to be. My photography career began when I was employed as a part-time administrative staff at Digital Studio.

I learned photography skills from my mentor, Mohamed Shafy- (National Award-winning Photographer and CEO of Digital Studio), and my interest in photography grew from him. Later, I enriched my skill by following photo essays by great photographers such as Yousuf Karsh, his work and his story inspired me. 

In 2017, I became certified in management and then studied toward a diploma. After completing my Diploma in Business, I am currently studying Bachelors of Marketing at Maldives National University. Since 2016, I have been developing new skills and discovering new things every day. My mentor Mohamed Shafy, is credited with a significant part of my success and accomplishments. Thank you for teaching me, sharing his knowledge, and providing me with countless opportunities and exposure.

Currently, I am employed at Gobig Maldives, and I am grateful for the opportunity to work for Maldives' No.1 wedding planner, Mr. Ahmed Shaffan.

It has been quite challenging for women to choose a photography career, not just in Maldives but also throughout the whole world. It is a target of mine to reach the top of photography field and inspire other girls to do the same.

I travel to many resorts on request as Maldives is a tourist destination, and as a result, there is a high demand for female photographers for guest Shoots. As I am one of the few female photographers here in Maldives, I travel to resorts for photoshoots and I have been capturing the beauty of these resorts as well.

As my skills count on not only on resort photography, I also capture different varieties of photography such as weddings, portraits, events, fashion, babies, and families and more skills I have acquired over the years.

I am absolutely joyful to receive my very first award with the title of “Asia’s Outstanding Photographer award” under Asia’s Creative award category from Asia Awards powered by Rula Awards. I am honored to be recognized for this award and the happiness I feel is immaculate. I want to thank everyone for their continuous support and encouragement I am receiving throughout my career. I am also grateful to be recognized for my contribution to diversity in photography that has made an essential difference to society and how it has communicated visually.

In the coming years, I plan to stage my first photo exhibition, which will also be the first female photo exhibition in the Maldives. If I am successful, it will be my first ever counting achievement in my life, and I am, from the bottom of my heart, thankful to my parents, Digital studio and Gobig Maldives for helping me achieve it.

I am passionate about capturing the world through my camera, and I am not planning on stopping my hobby and career of capturing moments, thoughts, feelings, memories and many more.
