Behishta Sadaat has bagged Asia's Best Women Performer in Women Rights


“Behishta Sadaat is currently working with the UNWOMEN Afghanistan as Program Analyst managing the Elimination of Violence Against Women (EVAW) portfolio. Her enthusiasm for making a change and to serve women led her to pilot the first national hotline project- “Toll Free Helpline for Women and Children in Afghanistan” - which aimed to reduce violence against women by providing legal and psychological consultations for women and children through mobile phones across the country. 

She has two bachelor degrees in Political Science and Public Administration from American University of Afghanistan and Public Health from Kabul Medical University. She pursues her graduate program in Globalization Studies at Dartmouth College. She is a GATHER fellow and Seeds of Peace program alumni. From a very young age, She has been involved in social and volunteer activities in her community and she has represented Afghanistan as Peace Leader in regional and international programs. She has been awarded as Ambassador of Peace by Seeds of Peace in United States in years 2009 and 2012.

She continued to work as a social/ women activist for advocating human rights especially women’s rights in Afghanistan. Beside social and volunteer activities, she has developed her career in project management, research and policy making with seven years of experience. As she has worked with different government institutions, local organizations and international NGOs. Behishta’s biggest ambition is “having a community free of violence and discrimination against women, where women can enjoy the equal rights as men”.
