Danu moved to Colombo as the war escalated in Jaffna at the age of 7, seeking refuge with his mother and sister. He has made a niche for himself in the Media landscape of Sri Lanka, and is now a household name beloved for his humor. Danu has used his platform as an amplifier for causes dear to his heart. Youth empowerment, cancer awareness and poverty alleviation are causes he has championed throughout his life. Danu believes in using the arts as a vessel for creating a bridge between communities. Using Buzz with Danu, Jaffna Boy and his other ventures to break barriers at every possible opportunity. 

A veteran in media, Danu joined the industry at the age of 16 and is currently at the helm of one of the most successful media networks in the Island. While fulfilling his duties as the Head of Channel of Hi!!TV, and with two very successful shows done for Lankadeepa – Danu Ta Kiyanna and with Tamil Mirror – Danu vudan konja neram. 

He has under his belt some of the most highly rated English Language television talk shows in sri lanka: Café Colombo, which he both hosted and produced and now A Date with Danu on Hi!! TV. He also hosted the pioneer English television music request show planet pulse. Being one of the only tri-lingual media personalities in the country, Danu was also the host of a Tamil language interactive LIVE television show that was very well received and garnered an immense following especially in the North and East of the country.

A triple threat that can sing, act and compere, he is a much loved thespian having contributed his versatile skills to many famed stage dramas in Colombo.

Danu is a firm believer in talent and hard work, and thus it is one of his life goals to train and coach the next generation so they can reach their full potential in an ever expanding global platform. In his capacity as a speaker he has on many occasions addressed the topics of racial harmony. To this end he is a prolific motivational speaker. He is a frequent guest speaker at training camps and corporate events. He also speaks on reconciliation and peace building and has been invited to many all island youth camps where his trilingual skills have ensured that his message reaches all audiences. Drawing from his own personal experiences, Danu is able to deliver an authentic message on growing beyond your circumstances and reaching your true potential. 

A firm believer in being a responsible corporate citizen, Danu initiated the (DIF)Danu Innasithamby Foundation, which works for the betterment of the lives of children with Cancer. The foundation also works for youth, in the capacity of talent scouting and training of promising young artists, athletes, innovators and entrepreneurs.

He is the only media personality in the country to have successfully conquered Radio, TV and print media. He runs two immensely popular columns in the most widely read English daily in the country.

A pioneer in Social Media in Sri Lanka, Danu's Vlogs: 'WTF', 'Fashionably Danu' and 'Jaffna Boy' enjoy widespread popularity with an ever growing fan base. He enjoys a strong position as a social influencer through his weekly columns and social media platforms.

A true convert of the digital age and the power of the people, Danu utilizes all tools at his disposal to ensure that his ultimate goal of contributing to a better Sri Lanka is actualized.
