First and foremost, I would like to thank the Asia Awards, powered by the Rula Awards. I am grateful and extremely honoured to be receiving this Award as “Asia’s Best Social Activist Award”. Asia Awards powered by Rula is an excellent and praiseworthy award.
Dr. Viknesvaran was born on 28th July 1980 as the fifth child out of six children. His mother Madam Devi had gone through a challenging time bringing up Dr. Viknesvaran and his siblings. As she was the sole breadwinner of the family, Dr. Viknesvaran put in his best effort to complete his higher education. He has made his mother proud as he is the only one out of six siblings who pursued higher education. Dr. Viknesvaran also pursued education continuously – he obtained a certificate in IT and Diploma in Knowledge Management. Presently, he is in the midst of completing his Master’s Degree in Knowledge Management. He was also nominated for the Honorary Doctorate in 2020 and received the said award in October 2020.
JABATAN KESIHATAN WILAYAH PERSEKUTUAN, KUALA LUMPUR, VVIP AMBULANCE [FIRST RESPONDER]
Dr. Viknesvaran, has a higher responsibility as a VVIP ambulance, to safely transport patients as quickly as possible to medical facilities, as a primary part of his job. In situations where the patient requires some level of care before reaching the hospital, such as instances of heavy bleeding or respiratory distress, the ambulance driver provides first aid and/or administers oxygen to the patient.
SG INFINITY TRADING SDN BHD & SG TRADING [CHAIRPERSON]
Dr. Viknesvaran, as the Chairperson has a strategic role to play in representing the vision and purpose of the committee. He ensures that the committee functions properly, that there is full participation at meetings, all relevant matters are discussed and that effective decisions are made and carried out. The responsibilities to plan, attend and run committee meetings and carry out agreed actions set by the committee. Also, he ensures matters are dealt with in an orderly, efficient manner. Further, it is also his duty to bring impartiality and objectivity to meetings and decision-making and to prepare a President's report at the annual general meetings (AGM).
He was also the Secretary of SG Infinity Sdn Bhd and SG Trading. The role of the Secretary is to support the chair in ensuring the smooth functioning of the Committee. The responsibilities include preparing agendas in consultation with the President, circulating agendas and any supporting papers in good time, and to receive agenda items from other committee members. He is also being responsibility in microbial control & sanitization service, serves as a prevention and risk management measure for your home and office, Prevents the growth of bacteria and virus, Keeps the microorganism population at a safe level and Kills the Covid-19 virus for places with confirmed cases.
PERTUBUHAN KEBAJIKAN CAHAYA MASYARAKAT WPKL & SEL (CAHAYA MAS) & OMISED (NGO) [PRESIDENT]
Dr. Viknesvaran also has an NGO which oversees budgeting, staff, and executives and evaluating the success of the company. He also conducts meetings with board members and other executives to assess the direction of the company, develop short and long-term goals, plans, and strategies, and ensure the company's compliance with the stated mission, operation of the company and ensuring all goals are based on the company’s strategic plans. His role also includes listening to the viewpoints and reports of the company's vice presidents or directors and making the final decisions, maintaining awareness and knowledge of the company's daily finances. He also analyses budgets and financial reports, updates and revises plan to increase the company's profitability and progress and creates and maintains relationships with the community and industry leaders and encouraging business investments, looking for alliances, mergers, partnerships, and investment opportunities and reviewing and advising on contracts. Further, he assists with maintaining your knowledge of tax liabilities, implications, and exemptions, as well as finances and operations.
LEGAL FIRM OFFICE MANAGER
Dr. Viknesvaran was an Office Manager in a law firm. The firm deals with range of matters especially in family matter as to dissolution of marriage, nullity and judicial separation, custody and maintenance orders, adoption and estate matter in terms of obtaining administration rights, distribution of the estate, order for sales and transfers of the estate properties, execution of Wills, general litigation, bankruptcy and winding up matters, conveyancing, corporate matters such as mergers, joint venture agreements and all kind of agreements. He was ever ready with solution and ideas to solve the panic button moments of the clients such as referring them to the police station and assisting clients in making police reports and to any other government agencies, land office and smooth out any hiccups in completing matters in the office and to retain the satisfaction of the clients. Essentially, as the manager of the firm, he was able to see the full spectrum of the office, professionalism and legal paternity as seen in the eyes of an eagle. Through the firm, he was able to extend a helping hand to the single parents, neglected children, alienation by one parent to another in due of child access, fraudulent transfer of properties of the estate leaving the young and fragile children deprived from the rights as beneficiaries.
MALAYSIA CIVIL DEFENCE FORCE (APM)
Dr. Viknesvaran, was in a Civil Defence Force measures which are designed to deal with immediate emergency conditions, protect the public and restore vital services and facilities that have been destroyed or damaged by disaster. Historically, conscious of the need for civil protection measures and to ask them to keep ready civil protection paper plans for major cities and towns under the then Emergency Relief Organization (ERO) Scheme. Apart from carrying out training and rehearsal/ demonstration of Civil Defence measures during peacetime, Civil Defence volunteers are also deployed, on a voluntary basis, in various constructive and nation building activities, which include helping the administration in undertaking social and welfare services and in the prevention/mitigation of natural/man-made disasters as well as in post- disaster response and relief operations.
ROYAL MALAYSIA POLICE [POLICE VOLUNTEER RESERVE]
Dr. Viknesvaran was an Officer who performed uniformed patrol duties in support of the Police Department. Their primary mission is to augment the full-time police force. The position is entirely voluntary and serves at the pleasure of the Chief of Police. Reserve Police Officers are sworn and commissioned personnel with law enforcement authority and powers while on duty. Officers perform general duty police work in the protection of life and property through enforcement of laws and ordinances, responsible for the protection of life and property, prevention of crime apprehension of criminals, and general enforcement of laws and ordinances. Work is performed in accordance with departmental rules and regulations and normally consists of routine patrol, preliminary investigation, and traffic regulation duties which may be performed in police cars, bicycle, or on foot. Work involves an element of personal danger and police officers must be able to act without direct supervision and to exercise independent description in meeting emergencies. Field work includes exposure to emergencies and individuals who may be distraught, violent, or abusive. General and special instructions are received from the police sergeant or designated supervisor who reviews work methods and results through reports, personal inspection, and general discussion.
MALAYSIA INTERNATIONAL DIGITAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP CENTRE (MIDEC) [COMMITTEE MEMBER]
Dr. Viknesvaran, effectively communicated the vision and purpose of the organization (speech at presentation night). He was tasked to attend committee meetings and check that all members are present; he recorded meeting minutes and circulated the minutes to all committee members; he also ensured that the President signs the minutes once they have been approved for banking purposes. Further, he also checks that the committee members and staff have carried out agreed action(s), he also circulated agendas and minutes of the annual general meeting (AGM) and any committee meetings, and ensured arrangements for meetings are met (venue, communicating with committee members). Also, he was required to provide a presentation of the accounts at the annual general meeting (AGM) and advise on the fundraising strategy of the organization.
KOPERASI PEMBANGUNAN EKONOMI (KOPEI) [BOARD MEMBER]
Dr. Viknesvaran was involved in the Organization’s mission, policies, programs, and needs. He faithfully read and understand the organization’s financial statements and served as an active advocate and ambassador for the organization, and fully engaged in identifying and securing the financial resources and partnerships necessary for the organization to advance its mission leverage connections, networks, and resources to develop collective action to fully achieve the organization’s mission give a meaningful personal financial donation help identify personal connections that can benefit the organization’s fundraising and reputational standing.
HONORARY DOCTORATE
Dr. Viknesvaran, was awarded with an Honorary Doctorate for his hard work and great achievements. It was not an easy journey, but he did not give up. Being a volunteer, helper and frontliner, his contribution to tirelessly keep the essential industries running during this COVID-19 was greatly valued and appreciated.
