'Asia’s Outstanding Entrepreneur of the Year Award',

I am greatly pleased to be selected as 'Asia’s Outstanding Entrepreneur of the Year', I feel that as a great respect and a privilege for me for the rigorous journey I have been stepping towards.

The fact that my hard work has been recognized instills the confidence in me to work with best of my abilities for the interest of the organization.

At the same time, I take this opportunity to thank Asia Awards powered by Rula Awards for organizing such a wonderful appreciation and recognition platform to appraise and respect individuals who take risks and challenge themselves to make a change in the world.

Mahesh Wijerathne is the founding Chairman and Managing Director of Bitulink Group – a company with investments in manufacturing of bituminous products, industrial chemicals, construction, automobiles, financial services etc and the leisure sector in particular. 

Mahesh is a visionary, an entrepreneur and a prominent business figure in the North Western Provincial business landscape. A proven leader and a successful industrialist, with over 26 years of business experience, has imbued the wisdom and the spirit to create world-class corporations in Sri Lanka. Very recently his main business Unit - Bitulink Emulsions Pvt Ltd was able to win the National Merit Award and Provincial Silver Award at Achievers Award 2020, organized by Ceylon National Chamber of Industries Contesting under the manufacturing sector, extra-large category.

Further he is a qualified, well experienced professional with a breadth of exposure/ experience and proven leadership success both in Sri Lanka and international. 

Mahesh holds a Diploma in Agriculture from Aquinas University College Colombo and holds a MBA from Anglia Ruskin University. At present he is reading for his Phd at First Friends Campus – Kandy. He has attended diversified training and workshops internationally. To name a few are England, Australia, Japan, Netherlands, Myanmar, China and India. 

Mahesh holds many honorary positions in both the private and public sectors viz

Director - Lanka Sathosa Limited (The largest state-owned wholesale and retail chain in Sri Lanka under the Ministry of Industry and Commerce)

Mahesh believes that there is no secret formula to success and also there are no shortcuts. Working hard with persistence and believing in himself are his success tools. Further, he emphasized that it’s required to build credibility, need to be focused and work very hard to be successful in business. Maybe you need a bit of luck as well.
