Tawfiq Y T Zyoud has bagged Distinguished Researcher Award of the Year

I am TAWFIQ Y.T ZYOUD from Palestine (Silat al-Harithiya village in the Jenin city, west  bank, Palestine), a persistent researcher as well as I have Jordanian nationality, my identity is  the secret of my success. I was born in Nablus in 1994. Currently, I am in Malaysia doing my  PhD at the University Putra Malaysia (UPM). I have joined several scientific organizations to  be a Member of the Palestinian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists, a Member  of the European Society of Radiology. Also, I have got an ARID Scientific membership.  Besides, I became a Member of the Arab Federation Associations of Radiology and Medical  Imaging specialists. In 2012 I got an invitation from Radio Marah 100.7 FM - Hebron  Palestine as an episode guest to interview Marj Ibn ?mir  (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Od_lguewCsg ). In order to give a nuanced picture of  the camps and refugees and convey an overview of the history and the culture of their  country, I interviewed a group of refugees from Palestinian villages (Barqusya village) in  2013. The interview has been published in Palestine remembered website  (https://www.palestineremembered.com/Hebron/Barqusya/ar/Story27094.html ) and Palestine Ahliya University. In 2015-2016 I was the North West Bank axis representative at the  Council of the student union, Palestine Ahliya University. Then in 2019, I was the emcee for  the Postgraduate orientation program (pop) at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences,  University of Putra Malaysia. During 2020 and 2021, I have been chosen to presented several  clubs, the Graduate Students' Club (GSC) at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at  the University of Putra Malaysia; besides, I Organized events and workshops as event  committee and IT, media & publicity committee at Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences  at University of Putra Malaysia.

My scientific life journey started in 2012 at Palestine Ahliya University, where I got my  Bachelor's Degree in Medical Imaging. In March 2018, I gained admission at the Faculty of  Medicine and Health Sciences of the University Putra Malaysia (UPM) to study my Master of  Science under Prof Dr. Ezamin Abdul Rahim's supervision, well known for his extraordinary  work, humble and kind with a constant smile. Currently, I am studying at the University Putra  Malaysia (UPM) for the PhD degree in Medical Imaging with my supervisor Prof Dr Ezamin  Abdul Rahim. My interest in post-mortem computed tomography led me to work on projects;  titled as "Estimation of body height from spinal length measurements using post-mortem computed tomographic images." also, I worked on "Cadaveric body weight estimation from  regression analysis of corpse length and anterior abdominal subcutaneous fat thickness by  post mortem computed tomography" and "Assessment of heart and liver weight by post mortem computed tomography."

Because this area provides valuable information to  clinicians, scientists, researchers, and, more importantly, the expert forensic scientists who  may use the results to enhance further security in our society, especially among Malaysians. It  also provides information on the importance of post-mortem CT (PMCT) as its usefulness in  accurately determining the length and weight of cadaveric body weight. In a time like this,  where there are many mass disasters occurring day in day out across the globe, the study  estimates the bodyweight of incomplete corpses. These parameters could help biological  anthropologists and forensics further the research that comes up with something novel,  significantly when these measurements are correlated with molecular markers found in the  dead body. Equally, it can aid to improve in both research and postmortem investigation. The  formula derived or predicted to estimate the patient’s body weight and height in emergency  circumstances, particularly the Malaysian population. It also provides valuable information to  clinicians, scientists, researchers, and, more importantly, expert forensic scientists. They may  use our results because it will help with investigations into the cause of death. After all, an  increased heart weight is a crucial disease marker.

Furthermore, the estimation of liver weight is essential for liver transplantation. The accurate  pretransplant estimate of donor standard liver volume is vital to avoid severe mismatches. It  will also provide information on the importance of post-mortem CT (PMCT) as its usefulness  in accurately determining the organ weight.

What helped me achieve my goals and complete those projects was my ability to work under pressure and independently as a team member. Moreover, good communication and report  writing skills (English & Arabic) helped me be the head of medical radiation technologists at  Medical Imaging, Al Hadaf Medical Centre, Palestine, from 30/11/2020 to 20/5/2021. Since  2018, I have been working with a scientific group of researchers, which enabled me to  publish some scientific papers  (https://scholar.google.com/citations?hl=en&user=SX0se2cAAAAJ ). I have attended more  than 100 workshops and seminars related to methodology, research design, and some medical  imaging techniques and organized workshops at the University Putra Malaysia. I participated  as a speaker and poster in several international conferences.

In appreciation of my efforts in the field of research, I received some honors and awards in  2019 at the 2019 Annual Scientific Meeting College of Pathologists, Academy of Medicine  of Malaysia Opportunities and Challenges in Laboratory Medicine. Also, I got the Best Poster Award. In Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre - DICEC from Palestinian association of medical radiation technologists I got Scientific representative of  Palestine in the 4th Annual Radiology Meeting in UAE conference. Moreover, in 2021 from  ARID Scientific Platform, I earned an Initiative researcher Badge, Activist at ARID  Scientific Events Badge 2021, Innovative researcher Badge. Also, I received a praiseworthy  award titled "Distinguished Researcher Award of the Year" by Asia Awards powered by  RULA Awards Under the category, "Asia's Research & Scientist & Professor & Teaching  Academic Awards."

My plan for the future, after I finish my PhD, is to apply for a postdoctoral program because  I am confident that it will develop me in the field of scientific research, and in addition to  that, I aspire to be a famous researcher, especially in the field of forensic medicine.

Foremost, I would like to express my deep gratitude to Allah (SWT) for granting me life,  good health, and wisdom in pursuing this outstanding achievement. I sincerely appreciate  your choice for this reward (Distinguished Researcher Award of the Year), demonstrating  your support for science and scientists. This year's honour highlights my efforts and  achievement, which may not be seen or even noted without this kind of support. Winning this  award is a badge of honour, an essential station in my scientific journey that allows me to  do more research and improve myself. On the other hand, I couldn't forget my dears  professors and doctors, Prof Dr Saiful Nizam bin Abdul Rashid, Prof Dr Rozi Mahmud, Prof  Dr Subapriya Suppiah, Dr Ameda Bn Faga, and Dr Umar Ahmad whom they are not  hesitating for a moment to help me and evaluate their research experience.

Recently, my  supervisor Prof Dr Ezamin Abdul Rahim has been my helpful consultant. I believe that the  Unknown Soldier to whom I must present these awards and honours are my families, parents,  and those who wished me success. And lastly but not least, I have gratitude and kind heart  appreciation to the great city of Bethlehem (It was my first station for my scientific life  journey), Sarawak state (It was my first station for my scientific research journey), Palestine  Ahliya University, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at the University of Putra  Malaysia and the University of Putra Malaysia.
